Today, October 10 was another long day of construction for our team. The weather was nice today with a good breeze, which made working a lot more enjoyable. Today’s focus was on constructing and finalizing the area for the seedling hut and plant nursery. Our crew continued leveling the land and constructing the boundary wall for the section. Further, we will be able to start planting there soon. We want to have many different kinds of small plants there to grow. Later, twenty to thirty different types of seeds will fill the seedling hut. We are also planning to use this area to grow medicinal plants. Our staff will teach children how to make Jamu, a type of Indonesian traditional medicine. The seedling hut and plant nursery area of the park will be finished sometime within the next two weeks. Our crew works all by hand so construction is slow.
Jonas was back at the site again today helping our crew level out the area of the future seedling hut. We were also fortunate to have the continued support of our BaliWise girls. The students came out again today to help with moving stones to their correct location. They work very quickly and provide assistance to our crew. They help make the work go faster and they enjoy doing it. It is a good way for them to get out of the dormitory when classes aren’t in session. They have been working from about 9:30 or 10 in the morning until about lunchtime. They provide a lot of support during these short hours. Without them the crew would have to spend this time moving stones, soil, and sand so they perform an important job. The construction will continue tomorrow. Keep a look out for our crowdfunding campaign!
