Business in Bali has always been a good move, who wouldn’t want to work on an island? With beautiful beaches, friendly locals and such a variety of food it’s as close to paradise as you can get. However, Bali still faces a massive waste problem. Few businesses are taking serious action to fight the daily battle against unnecessary waste, the environment not being a current priority for their business. The Green Room Bali thinks differently.
A surfer’s paradise, The Green Room Bali, offers anyone the best experience to catch waves whether you’re a beginner or have been surfing since you can remember. With camps strategically located in four areas around the island (Canggu, Seminyak, Bukit and Serangan), the facilities of The Green Room Bali are guaranteed to provide a successful surf experience if swell permits.
Having met the representative for The Green Room Bali at their surf camp in Seminyak, I was able to have a tour and see all the sustainable products that are being used throughout the camp. To help reduce plastic in the community, staff and guests are asked to use environmentally friendly cloth bags and refillable bottles (which can be filled at the camp). Plastic straws are a big problem in Bali, to combat this issue only bamboo or glass straws are used throughout the camp restaurants.
After the tour I was given a fresh watermelon juice by a member of staff to try. Uniquely served with the signature glass straw and piece of watermelon, there was nothing better to quench my thirst in this hot weather.
It’s clear that at The Green Room they are very concerned about Bali’s environment. Seeing people discard their trash from car windows or simply throwing it into a nearby river appals those that work here at the surf camps. Surfers are always in the water and knowing that their guests will be out in ocean around Bali where the trash eventually ends up puts a downer on things. No one likes to see trash in the ocean, especially the surfing community, and with more and more drifting into the surrounding ocean The Green Room is doing as much as they can to not add to this problem.
The future of these surf camps depends on the ocean. The more trash, the less surfers will want to travel to Bali for waves. No one wants to catch their first wave through trash, let alone paddle out in it. The team here at The Green Room are supporting ROLE Foundation for a better future on the island of Bali, not just for them, but for everyone.
Be a part of The Green Room Bali CSR program and support the ROLE Foundation by purchasing a refillable bottle. For every bottle that is purchased, The Green Room Bali will donate 1 Euro to the ROLE Foundation Environmental and Clean Ocean Program.
