Bali Island School Students | Team Learning | Topic Traditional Fabric from Bali – Friday, May 10th 2019
As part of their project in Grade 5 about ‘how to express themselves’, four students from Bali Island School went to R.O.L.E. Foundation to learn more about Indonesian fabrics at our Zero Waste to Oceans – Community Environment and Skills Center.
After being introduced about R.O.L.E. Foundation, they went to Natural Dyes station to learn about natural dyes from indigo, turmeric, ketapang, sappan wood and mahogany leaves. They also saw the process of making the dyes by boiling it. After that they learned about traditional weaving especially rang-rang motif from Nusa Penida Island. They also interviewed some our staff about the process and tried their hands on weaving one. Finally the adopted some trees for the assignment.
