January 25th, 2019. Interactive Tour, Think Global Act Local with iLAB Accelerator Bali. Eleven people joined us today at Zero Waste to Oceans – Community Environment and Skills Center to learn about creating positive impacts through business.
After brief explanation about ROLE Foundation, the group went to every stations at the center and learn about waste problem in Bali and the current waste management system in Indonesia and at ROLE, 7 types of plastics, lasagna composting, making seedling and seed balls. They even had throwing competition and harvesting passion fruits fresh from the trees that we grow organically. After that they visited land snail farming and had herbs smell test where they need to guest 5 herbs from the smell.
Then they tried to create tie dye using natural dyes from mahogany leaves which create light brown color. The team then moved to Traditional Weaving station to see how the traditional weaving really works from dyeing the yarn to weave one. After stop by at the shop they moved to Upcycling Station where they learn how to make new soap from used hotel’s soap.
The tour was finished at Jamu station where they taste 2 types of jamu, jamu beras kencur and jamu kunyit asam, and had traditional cakes and topical fruits. After relax and much discussion about how business can give more positive impacts to the community we took group photo to mark the end of the tour.
