Bali’s 280 Desa’s and some of the 720 Banjar (Desa and Banjar = Local Council) are in charge of Bali’s Waste Collection and Management. How can we get them to make and manage a Professional Waste Management System, that processes 100% of the waste produced in their area? Bali supplies, burns and illegally dumps 5,000 cubic meters of solid waste around Bali each day, with liquid waste unmanaged. All this waste breaks down and enters her rivers and oceans in the raining season. Something must be done urgently!
In order to discuss Local Solutions to achieving Zero Waste to Oceans in Bali, R.O.L.E. Foundation have gathered like minded people to attend their annual Zero Waste to Oceans Conference. Our topic this year is how can good governance support the sustainability of Bali island and improve waste management treatment in each area.
