ROW FOR R.O.L.E. 3.0 Unites for Education and Empowerment
The vibrant spirit of the Bali community shone brightly at the recent ROW FOR R.O.L.E. 3.0 event, where nearly 90 participants gathered to make a positive impact on the thrilling 13km canoe race from Sanur to Nusa Dua, Bali. This annual fundraising initiative, organized by the R.O.L.E. Foundation in collaboration with Right Reasons Funding, garnered widespread support and enthusiasm, resulting in a remarkable achievement.
Through the collective efforts of donors and participants, ROW FOR R.O.L.E. 3.0 raised an impressive IDR 1.008.618,775 to support the Bali WISE Educational Program. This initiative empowers marginalized young Indonesian women with professional hospitality and digital marketing skills, providing them with the tools to break free from the cycle of poverty. The event’s success is a testament to the community’s commitment to driving positive change and uplifting those in need.
The success of ROW FOR R.O.L.E. 3.0 would not have been possible without the generous support of our primary sponsors: Hyatt Corporation, alongside Samudera Indonesia, Azurbali, and the Primer Group. Their unwavering commitment to our cause enabled us to organize a memorable event.
Leading up to the race, on April 26th, 2024, participants enjoyed a lineup of engaging activities, including registration, safety briefings, and a generous gift package featuring essentials like a waterproof camo tote bag from Azurbali, a t-shirt, refillable hydro flask bottle, healthy snacks, sustainable products, and more. Additionally, a delightful BBQ dinner at the Hyatt Regency, Sanur, set the stage for the main event.
The event featured an exhilarating sea canoe race on April 27th, 2024. As dawn broke, participants gathered at the beach at Hyatt Regency in Sanur, where they received guidelines from event organizers and were equipped with nourishing power snacks, hydrating fluids, and labor sunscreen to ensure their well-being throughout the race.
With the signal from the timekeeper, rowers embarked on their 13+ km journey along the stunning Bali coastline from Hyatt Regency in Sanur to the finish line at the beach at Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua, South Bali. The rowers competed in several categories: SUP Division, XL Division, Single Division, and Double Division.
The event drew support from various sectors of the community, and the highlight was our enthusiastic Bali WISE students who cheered on participants near the finish line. Their presence added to the uplifting atmosphere and underscored the significance of community collaboration in driving positive change. The event culminated in a vibrant beach party featuring an award ceremony where Bali WISE students performed their official anthem, composed by Karl Gart, the founder of www.womenofasia.space. This powerful song, “I Know the Longer Way,” moved spectators and students to tears, leaving a lasting impact on everyone present.
The festivities continued with a delectable brunch at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua and live rock music, concluding with the presentation of awards in the best fundraiser category.
In two previous years, the event gathered 79 participants, raising 900.000.000 IDR (2022), and 140 participants, raising 1.060.000.000 IDR (2023). The amounts contributed to educating 200 young marginalized women from all over Indonesia two years in a row.
This year, the event sponsors, race participants, silent auction, and a raffle with appealing awards offered by Bali WISE students have raised over 1.008.618,775 IDR. The funds raised from ROW FOR R.O.L.E. 3.0 will contribute to educating 100 marginalized young women in future intakes of the Bali WISE Educational Program. This initiative aims to empower women and create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
ROW FOR R.O.L.E. is more than just a charity event; it’s a community-driven initiative that champions equal rights, environmental sustainability, and positive action. By coming together in support of a common cause, we can create meaningful change and leave a lasting impact on our community and beyond.
